Why Have Lessons?

It is true that, whatever skill you want to develop, you can do it yourself - so why have lessons?

What value and benefit does a teacher provide?

If you envy those musicians whose sounds/music you admire so much how are you going to develop your ability?

How many tuition aids or "Play in a Day" books have you bought but still the sounds that you produce are a disappointment?

You're doing everything that the book says.........Perhaps I need another book?........What am I doing wrong?.........Am I doing this right?..........I'll buy a video/DVD to see how to do it......Perhaps I need someone to show me?

All experienced guitar players can look back and reflect on the above scenarios and how it was for them.

The reality is that, unless you have proper tuition at some stage, you will not persevere or develop the abilities to play the guitar as you wish.

You will have spent a lot of money on books/CDs/DVDs and wasted precious time which is probably the main reason you didn't seek out a tutor in the first place!

Taking lessons with a personal tutor will;

Build your CONFIDENCE

Increase your UNDERSTANDING of the instrument

SHOW you how to play

DEVELOP your ability by assessing your current skills and needs

Give you STRUCTURE and FOCUS to your practice and playing

Provide the MOTIVATION to keep you going

SUPPORT you in your learning - essential!

Instil the DISCIPLINE necessary to persevere when things seem tough

INSPIRE you to achieve your ambitions

The most common remark I hear from my students is:

"I WISH I'D DONE THIS EARLIER!"
